This is the Dublin Spire, it is supposed to represent a ray of light shining down upon Dublin. After all the trouble the country has been through they thought it would be a good symbol that Ireland will always persevere. It’s made out of stainless steel and actually looked pretty cool, especially the first day we saw it when it was foggy out. However, not sure it was worth the 4.5 million euros spent to build it!
